and methods of training that will produce the results you

MOTIVATION
With our enthusiastic, experienced and caring trainers we
will provide an environment where you will gain the support,
the drive and the skills whilst enjoying exercise like you
never have before!
We utilize a variety of creative and traditional training methods
which include running programs, resistance training, circuits,
‘boxing’, outdoor games, postural assessment and reconditioning,
rehabilitation, pre and post natal conditioning (that is safe and
effective!), Swiss ball and core stability functional training,
sports specific conditioning, Pilates, corrective stretching and
more!
For more information or to book your first personal training
session please fill out an application form at reception.
Our personal training coordinator will then contact you to discuss
your objectives and match a personal trainer to suit your needs.

WHY A TEEN
GYM?

That's what the Teen Gym program is all about!
Training in the Gym is healthy even for young bodies.
Training in the Gym is safe even for growing bodies.
Training in the Gym is possible especially at Mill Park Leisure
and Services Centre YMCA.
The
Teen Gym (TG) program exists:

To
develop an awareness of Health & Fitness in Teenagers
-
To
provide a place for safe gym training for Teenagers
-
To
motivate Teenagers to become physically active
-
To
develop leadership skills in Teenagers
The
Teen Gym (TG) will achieve these goals in the following ways:
GOAL
1 – Awareness of Health & Fitness
-
Providing formal educational sessions that teach about Health
& Fitness
-
Supervision of Fitness Instructors who attempt to live with an
awareness of Health & Fitness in their
own
-
Exposing Teenagers to resources that educate them in Health &
Fitness
-
Listening to Teenagers’ felt needs and communicating (Health &
Fitness) facts in ways that are sensitive to the Teenagers’
development and understanding
GOAL 2 – Place for Safe Gym Training
-
Opening the Gym to Teenagers (who are signed up as members of
TG) during designated times
-
Providing supervision for the Teenagers by a qualified Fitness
Instructor during the designated training times
-
Encouraging Teenagers to treat each other with respect and
dignity
-
Promoting an attitude of “achievement” rather than “failure”
-
Promoting a positive self-concept regardless of body
composition or physical abilities

Maintaining Gym equipment to safe operating standards
-
Maintaining a clean (neat, tidy) Gym floor

Administering Health Evaluations and Program Starts to all TG
members
GOAL 3 – Motivate Physical Activity

Providing a fun environment for Gym work

Educating Teenagers regarding the benefits of exercise

Encouraging participation in exercise that the individual
Teenagers enjoy
GOAL 4 – Develop Leadership

Relationship – Demonstrating leadership (skills) to Teenagers

Helping Teenagers to develop their strengths

Encouraging “character” development in TG members
