What is WRAP?

The Whittlesea Recreation Access Project (W.R.A.P.) provides recreation and leisure opportunities for people who have a disability.  Participants must be aged between 16 and 65 years, and reside within the City of Whittlesea.  The project is funded by the Department of Human Services Home and Community Care (HACC).

W.R.A.P. is run by the Whittlesea YMCA, and offers participants a variety of activities.  These include:

  • Social Groups

  • Basketball

  • Aerobics

  • Water aerobics

  • Swimming

  • Gym

  • Outings

The cost of the program depends upon the activities undertaken.  Where there are paid W.R.A.P. staff working, or transport is provided by W.R.A.P., a small service fee is also charged.

W.R.A.P. relies heavily on the assistance of volunteers to help participants access the program.  Volunteers can undertake a variety of duties, depending upon their interests, skills and time they have available to volunteer.  Training for volunteers is provided, with all costs covered by W.R.A.P.  For more information regarding volunteering opportunities with W.R.A.P., please contact the W.R.A.P. Co-ordinator.

The Whittlesea Recreation Access Project strives to ensure that people with disabilities are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of integrated recreation and leisure activities of their choice.  We aim to enhance socialisation, independence, self-esteem and motivation to all program participants.
